Asbestos Sampling Case Study
During the cleanup of asbestos dust and mud produced during the explosion of a Con Edison steam line in the Gramercy Park area of New York City, LAUREL staff was involved in the collection and analysis of hundreds of mixed media samples for percent asbestos. Based on the analytical results, buildings, trees, sidewalks, etc., were considered clean when found to contain <1% asbestos or were cleaned again until the asbestos content fell to that level.
